For bloggers, goal setting is incredibly important. We are self-motivated content creators. Our blogs’ success depends on on how passionate, dedicated, and strategic we are about our work.

I personally find it much harder to finish a project if I don’t set specific goals for it. In spirit of the new year, I’ve decided to set blogging goals that I hope to achieve by the end of 2017. Goals are motivational, and they also help to keep you accountable. 2016 was a great year for me. I traveled to Australia for a few months, I was academically successful, I grew a lot as a person, and I finally started this blog in November. I’m hoping that 2017 brings even more successes.

Below, I have listed several goals for Style of Change that I’m going work toward this year:

  1. Get at least 500 email subscribers.

I’m only in my first few months of blogging, and I still have a lot to learn. I’m slowly building my subscriber base. By the end of this year, I would like to have at least 500 email subscribers. While this number might seem low to some, I have to remember to set goals that are challenging, but not impossible for me to achieve. I will work toward 500, but if I end up with more, I will be very happy!

  2. Write at least 5 guest posts for other blogs.

Guest blogging is a great way to network and form relationships with other bloggers. I want to write at least 5 guest posts by the end of this year so I can help others while making more blogger friends.

  3. Write at least 2 e-books for my subscribers.

Writing an e-book is one way to give back to my email subscribers. (Plus it can be used as an opt-in offer to get even more email subscribers.) I already have one planned out, and later in the year, I will brainstorm ideas for writing at least one more.

  4. Publish one blog post every Sunday and Thursday without missing a day.

I recently set up a new posting schedule for my blog. I have decided to publish posts 2 times per week on Sundays and Thursdays. So far, it’s worked wonderfully. I haven’t missed a day yet, which I’m very proud of, and the days I picked go well with my work and school schedules. I hope to keep up my perfect posting streak, and by the end of the year, I will have over 100 new blog posts.

  5. Attend at least 1 conference for bloggers.

I know that blogging conferences are excellent networking opportunities. I’m already looking at two in my area that I want to attend later this year. At the conferences, I’d hope to meet other like-minded bloggers and learn some helpful tips from guest speakers. I’m sure that meeting established bloggers in person would open up many doors for me!

  6. Start a YouTube channel.

Unfortunately, not everyone enjoys reading. Before the end of this year, I would like to start a YouTube channel in addition to my blog so I can have another platform to connect with subscribers on. I plan on making style, beauty, and advice videos with some vlogs thrown in the mix. We’ll have to see where it takes me!

  7. Earn at least $200 from blogging.

At this point in my career, I don’t plan on making blogging my full-time job. School is my number one priority, and after I graduate, I will likely pursue a career in communications. However, monetizing my blog seems like a great way to make a little extra money. This year, I will find different ways to monetize my blog, and I hope to have made a total of $200 by the end of 2017. I blog for fun, not for the pay. But if can make money writing about the things that I enjoy, why wouldn’t I capitalize on my passion? I don’t know too much about monetization yet, but I plan on doing more research in the coming months to refine my strategy.
