Summer is over, but that doesn’t mean we should stop eating well! Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite smoothie recipes. A lot of people drink smoothies during the spring and summer months, but I enjoy them year-round. Retailers like Smoothie King and Tropical Smoothie have delicious blends, but I save time and money by making my own. Even better, I can choose exactly which ingredients to put into my smoothie so I know exactly what I’m putting in my body.
The blender I use is the KitchenAid KSB1570SL 5-Speed Blender (shown below). It’s very easy to use, and I like that it has different settings. You can use your blender of choice for this recipe, but if you would like to purchase the same one I use, you can click the image below to get it on Amazon.
I included strawberries, blueberries, and a banana in this recipe. However, the great thing about smoothies is that it’s easy to substitute ingredients to accommodate food allergies (or if you just flat out don’t like something)! Check out the ingredients I used in this recipe below.
(makes 1 serving; double all ingredients for 2 servings)
- Five regular sized strawberries
- One banana
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1/2 cup almond milk (unsweetened)
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tablespoons protein powder (optional)
- 2-3 ice cubes (optional- these just make the smoothie cold!)
I like using Greek yogurt as a base because it’s high in protein, but low in calories. The unsweetened almond milk is also a healthy choice.
The process for this recipe is very simple. I just blend the above ingredients together in my blender on medium speed, or the “3” setting on my specific appliance, for one minute or until all ingredients are blended.
That’s it! If you try this out, let me know how it goes. Pin this post if you enjoyed it and enter your email in the box below to subscribe to me. Thanks so much for reading!
