Hi everyone! I’m back with another income report because November was a fantastic month. I haven’t done an income report since July. I’ve definitely learned a lot since then, so I figured it was about time to share another one!

First, I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on this blogging journey. I am incredibly thankful for all the opportunities I have had to grow as a blogger. I love what I do, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Style of Change!

I’ll share the breakdown of my income and my traffic analytics for November, and then I’ll share a few tips for new bloggers on how you can earn money from your blog too!

Income

Total income for Nov. 2017: $2,201.37

  • Advertising: $751.37
  • Sponsored posts: $1,450.00

This past month, I was able to work on some great sponsored campaigns. I always enjoy collaborating with brands to share the best products with y’all.

November was easily my highest earning month of blogging EVER, which is super exciting. It also marks a year since I registered the domain for my website (yay)! The one-year anniversary for the launch of my blog is quickly approaching, and I can’t wait to more closely examine my growth as a blogger once I hit the one-year mark.

Traffic

I’m happy with the amount of traffic I got to my blog this month. I have consistently hit similar numbers in previous months. I will continue to create great content and get even more traffic next month!

Now, I’m going to share 10 monetization tips for new bloggers:

  1. Create quality content.
    I put this first because it truly is the most important tip I can give you. No one will want to read your blog if you don’t create quality content. Remember, quality over quantity! It only takes one great viral post for you to drive insane amounts of traffic to your website.
  2. Focus on getting traffic first.
    Trust me, it will be much easier for you to earn an income from your blog if you have a steady traffic flow first. Brands are interested in working with bloggers who have engaged followings, so the more engagement you receive on your blog and social media, the better! You won’t get thousands of page views overnight. It takes hard work and strategy. But don’t give up! You will see great results with dedication to your work.
  3. Optimize your Pinterest strategy.
    Pinterest has been crucial to my success as a blogger. I get the majority of my traffic from Pinterest. Posts on Pinterest go viral easily because the platform is based on sharing and re-sharing content. Here are a few ways you can optimize Pinterest to drive more traffic to your blog:

    • Join Pinterest group boards and pin your posts to them
    • Repin other bloggers’ content
    • Create eye-catching vertical images to share on Pinterest for each of your blog posts (see the ones at the bottom of this post for inspiration!)
    • Create a Pinterest board specifically for your blog posts and pin all of them to it
  4. Conduct research on different ways to monetize your blog and pick the ones that are best for you.
    Not every monetization strategy works for every blogger. For example, I earn more from pay-per-click ads than I do from affiliate marketing. However, I know many bloggers earn the majority of their income from affiliate marketing. Monetization is largely a trial-and-error process. You’ll need to conduct research and try different strategies out to find out which ones work best for you.
  5. Use affiliate marketing.
    Like I mentioned in my last tip, many bloggers earn most of their income from affiliate marketing. I personally don’t have much experience with affiliate marketing, so I can’t provide firsthand advice on the topic. I would just recommend reading a lot of blogs to see which affiliate marketing strategies work, and then implement those into your own strategy. Here are a few affiliate networks I currently use:

  6. Put ads on your website.
    As you can probably tell from my income report, I earn a significant amount of my income from ads that I place on my blog. Ads are great because you can earn money from them without physically being at your computer. You can earn an income while you sleep! I utilize Google AdSense pay-per-click ads. With pay-per-click ads, you earn a little money every time a visitor clicks on one of the ads on your website. I know that many bloggers use AdSense and swear by it, but some are part of other ad networks that work better for them. I have had a great experience with AdSense, and I couldn’t recommend it more.
  7. Join influencer networks.Influencer networks are platforms that connect bloggers and social media influencers with brands that want to collaborate with them. I find most of my sponsored post opportunities through influencer networks. Here are a few that I am a part of:
  8. Sell products.
    One of the primary ways to earn a substantial income from blogging is to sell products on your website. I don’t currently sell any products, but it is something I will definitely look into in the future. You know those people who claim to earn six-figure incomes from blogging? The vast majority of them are earning money from selling e-courses, books, or tangible products on their website. If you have ever wanted to start an online business, this might be a great opportunity for you!
  9. Don’t ignore SEO.
    Yes I know, SEO is complicated. I do not claim to be an SEO expert at all. However, I do recommend that you learn as much as you can about it. Since I’ve started optimizing my website for better SEO, I have seen more traffic come into my website from search engines.The Yoast SEO plugin makes search engine optimization simple. It tells you exactly what you need to do in order to improve your SEO. I suggest you download it and start using it when you write your blog posts.
  10. Never stop learning.
    Blogging is an ever changing field. There is no long-lasting secret to being a successful blogger. With new technology and platforms emerging every year, strategies change and we must keep learning how to keep up with the advancements. Always be willing to learn. Even if you are an expert blogger now, you won’t be in 10 years if you don’t keep your mind open to possibilities and apply the new knowledge you gain.
