Ever since I’ve started using more natural products in my daily beauty and self-care routine, I’ve noticed positive changes in my mood, skin, and overall health. Self-care is a big part of my lifestyle, but in the past, I have found it difficult to find natural wellness products to use.

Today, I am going to share a DIY natural wellness and beauty kit. This kit incorporates do-it-yourself and store-bought natural or plant-based products.

Below are the contents of the kit:

  • DIY Cucumber Sugar Scrub
  • DIY Essential Oil Toner
  • DIY Coconut Oil Whipped Moisturizer
  • DIY Peppermint Refreshing Spray
  • Natural Yogurt Probiotic Nut Blend
  • Seventh Generation Feminine Care Products

Why is natural better, you ask? By incorporating natural, organic, and plant-based products into my lifestyle, I know I am benefitting both myself and the environment. Products that are plant-based instead of chemical-based cause less skin irritation and they are less harmful for the body. Protecting our environment is important, and I know that by using more plant-based products, I am helping to preserve the Earth’s fragile ecosystems and reduce pollution.

Now, I will tell you how you can make or purchase each item in your natural self-care kit!

DIY Cucumber Sugar Scrub

Can you guess why people put cucumber slices over their eyes? Cucumber is great for your skin! It’s rich in vitamin C and caffeic acid, which help to soothe skin and fight irritation. Because of cucumber’s high water content, it also acts as a hydrating agent.

The combination of cucumber and sugar in this unique scrub helps to exfoliate while retaining moisture. If you need an exfoliant but have dry skin like me, you have to give this a try!

  • 8 cucumber slices (unpeeled)
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 8-10 drops of an essential oil of your choice (optional; choose an essential oil that you like or that has benefits for your skin type. I chose peppermint oil for its sweet scent!

  1. In a blender, combine cucumber, sugar, and coconut oil until cucumber skin is in tiny flecks and all ingredients are well blended.
  2. Stir in essential oil.
  3. Store in refrigerator after use.

DIY Coconut Oil Whipped Moisturizer

Whipped products are lots of fun, and coconut oil is seriously a miracle worker. It’s good for your skin, it’s good for your hair, and it’s good to cook with. One cool thing about using natural ingredients in your DIY skincare products is that you can use the excess to make dinner!

This coconut oil-based whipped moisturizer packs hydration into dry and damaged skin. And you only need to use a tiny bit when you apply it. A little goes a long way!

The essential oils used in this DIY both provide natural fragrance and skincare benefits to the product.

  • 2 cups solidified coconut oil
  • Tea tree essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil

  1. Using a mixer, mix the coconut oil until it is about halfway whipped into a cream.
  2. Stop and put 3 drops of tea tree essential oil and 3 drops of lavender essential oil into the bowl.
  3. Keep blending until the cream has a whipped and airy consistency.

DIY Essential Oil Toner

The key to this natural toner is witch hazel. (Weird, right?) Believer it or not, witch hazel helps to minimize the appearance of pores and reduce irritation. Perfect benefits for a toner!

I would use this toner after washing my face, but before moisturizing. This toner works well in combination with the coconut oil whipped moisturizer also featured in this post!

  • Witch hazel
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Tea tree essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil

  1. Fill a jar or bottle ¾ of the way with witch hazel.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of vitamin E oil.
  3. Add 4 drops of tea tree essential oil and 4 drops of lavender essential oil.
  4. Shake well before use!

DIY Peppermint Refreshing Spray

Sometimes, when our skin feels puffy and irritated, all it needs is a quick refresh! You can use this DIY peppermint refreshing spray in lieu of a rose water spray or similar refreshing product. The peppermint essential oil used in this product provides the cooling effect, and the lavender essential oil gives off a sweet scent!

  • Distilled water
  • Peppermint essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil

  1. Fill a small, travel-sized spray bottle with distilled water.
  2. Add 4 drops of each essential oil into the spray bottle.
  3. Shake well before use!

Natural Yogurt Probiotic Nut Blend

Healthy snacks are always great to have around! In this kit, I have included a probiotic blend of yogurt coated raisins, regular raisins, dried cranberries, and almonds. The almonds are packed with protein, and the fruit are full of vitamin C! This snack is great to carry with you on-the-go.
